Date: Tuesday, Apr 2nd, 2013
Time: 12:30 pm - 2:00 pm
Location: Uris 303
We will be holding Stock Pitch 201 on Tuesday March 26th from 12:30-2:00 in Uris 330 and Stock Pitch 301 on Tuesday April 2nd (one week later) from 12:30 – 2:00 in Uris 303.
These events are being run by Danilo Santiago, a CBS alum who now runs his own fund. In Stock Pitch 201, Danilo will discuss the unique research and investment methodology that his firm uses which I found to be one of the most interesting perspectives of the fund managers that we heard last year. His fund, Rational Asset Management, only invests in a select number of companies that they have come to know extremely well over many years and they buy, sell, or short these companies based on the relationship between market price and intrinsic value. This is a great introduction to value investing in practice and is a highly recommended event!
During Stock Pitch 301, Danilo will do an in-depth case discussion of an idea that Rational is currently invested in. The name for discussion will be given out at Stock Pitch 201 and students are encouraged to do a few hours of work and come up with 5 year projections for key financials before Stock Pitch 301. These projections will be consolidated and it is very interesting to see where students come out vs. Rational and makes the discussion more rewarding as students are able to ask important questions about the business when thinking about valuation. Last year, Danilo discussed USG which has gone from at the time of the event to today!
Both events should be great learning opportunities and lunch will be provided, so please sign up at the links below and we look forward to seeing you then!
